We wander through the city and meet the Sofia citizens living and working on the streets. There is the lady street tramp who lies down on a wall as a modern, though poor, Olympia. She relates her story as a former princess, once covered in precious jewelry and glamour. We are told of the street merchants repairing bicycles, selling stockings and mushrooms. And the elder inhabitants of Sofia quietly sit on their bench and exchange their stories and experiences. We see them again at their meeting point, pouring water from the medicinal well in the center of town. Then we realize that the young and hopeless obtain their medicine from less innocent sources. And while the orphans are cheerful, we realize that the surface can be deceiving.
